Graduate Programs in Nursing

For RNs with a baccalaureate degree in nursing, we offer three MS degrees: 1) Nursing Education, 2) Nursing Leadership and Administration, and 3) Family Nurse Practitioner; each with post-master's certificates in these specialized areas. For RNs with a bachelor's degree outside of nursing, we offer an RN to MS Program.

The Master of Science in Nursing Education degree is designed for working RNs who hold a bachelor's degree in nursing and want to learn how to prepare future generations of nurses needed to care for people in our complex world. The program utilizes evidence-based learning methods to develop students' expertise through a sequence of courses and teaching practice immersions to prepare for various teaching settings. Students will master the latest technological advances in education and be prepared for success in a nurse educator role. The Master of Science in Nursing Education is an asynchronous online program that may be completed in 18-20 months.

The Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Administration degree program is designed for working RNs who hold a bachelor's degree in nursing and are in, or are seeking, leadership positions in the healthcare system. With a substantial focus on evidence-based practice, the business aspects of healthcare, and the latest technological advances, this program will develop and hone students' leadership expertise and their knowledge of administration and management in nursing. The coursework, graduate project, and internship will prepare the graduate to be a visionary leader and a participant in the improvement of the healthcare system. This is an asynchronous online program that may be completed in 18-20 months.

The Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner program is designed for working RNs who hold a bachelor's degree in nursing and are seeking a role in advanced nursing practice in primary care. Coursework is offered in a fully online format and can be completed in about three years. A one-week, in-person, intensive on-campus competency kicks off the required 600 hours of clinical to prepare students to provide a wide range of services to diverse people across the lifespan. Required hours are subject to change in order to follow accreditation and regulatory standards and rules.

Programs for Post-Master’s Advanced Certificates in Nursing Leadership and Administration, Nursing Education, and Family Nurse Practitioner are available for students who have previously earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree. After a Gap Analysis is performed according to accreditation, certification, and regulatory standards, students will have an individualized plan of coursework needed to earn the specialty advanced certificate.

RN to MS Program

The RN to MS program offers RNs the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Nursing. Offered in a convenient online format, this program is designed for RNs with a bachelor's degree outside of the discipline of nursing who want to earn both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Nursing while continuing to work. Students who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher in the bachelor's level courses of the program may immediately enter the Graduate program in either Nursing Leadership and Administration or Nursing Education.

The baccalaureate degree programs in nursing, master’s degree programs, and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at the School of Nursing at Roberts Wesleyan University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
