Honor Societies
Alpha Kappa Sigma
Election to membership in this honor society of the Association of Free Methodist Educational Institutions is the highest honor bestowed by the University. A select group of seniors is elected each year by the faculty of the University on the basis of excellence in scholarship, character, and extra-curricular activities.

Nursing Honor Society
The Roberts Wesleyan Nursing Honor Society was begun in May 1997. The goal of the Honor Society is to become a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Membership in the Honor Society is by invitation and is extended to students who have completed half of their nursing credits, have maintained a 3.00 grade point average or higher, and are in the top 35% of their graduating class. The Honor Society’s functions are to recognize excellence and leadership among members of the nursing profession and to promote scholarship and research within the profession of nursing.
Phi Alpha Honor Society - Social Work
The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among social work students and to promote service. Phi Alpha Honor Society holds high national standards and is certified by the Association of College Honor Societies. The Mu Omega Chapter of Phi Alpha at Roberts was chartered on March 8, 2005.
Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social work students and invites into membership those who have attained academic excellence and exhibited commitment to service. BSW students who have met the following national criteria will receive an email invitation to apply for Phi Alpha membership.
- An eligible student must have completed at least 37.5% of credit hours in our BSW program. This generally means that you must be a Junior or a Senior.
- An eligible student must also meet GPA requirements by being in the top 35% of students in the BSW program at Roberts.
We will run eligibility reports in late January/early February based on these criteria. Students who have met the above two criteria will receive an email invitation to apply for Phi Alpha membership in the Mu Omega Chapter. In order to qualify, students must further demonstrate the following:
- At least 4 hours of volunteer experience in the last 4 months from the time of application. The volunteer experiences must be carried out through formal organizations and must be connected to social work (e.g., humanitarian service, community service, philanthropy). Any for credit (e.g., internship) or for pay (e.g., work) experiences do not count as volunteer experiences.
- In addition, another requirement to be inducted into the Mu Omega Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society is the commitment to engage in at least 4 hours of social work-focused volunteer service per each semester until you graduate.
