Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society
The goal of the Honor Society is to become a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Membership in the Honor Society is by invitation and is extended to students who have completed half of their nursing credits, have maintained a 3.00 grade point average or higher, and are in the top 35% of their graduating class. The Honor Society’s functions are to recognize excellence and leadership among members of the nursing profession and to promote scholarship and research within the profession of nursing.

Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society
RWU Chapter: Tau Lambda
Alpha Sigma Lambda is a National Honor Society that recognizes the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work.
To be inducted into Roberts Wesleyan’s Tau Lambda Chapter, students must be recommended by the Department and approved by the Chapter’s Board. To be eligible, students need to have earned at least 24 credits from Roberts Wesleyan University and have a minimum GPA of 3.75.

Phi Alpha National Honor Society
RWU Chapter: Mu Omega
The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among social work students and to promote service. Phi Alpha Honor Society holds high national standards and is certified by the Association of College Honor Societies. The Mu Omega Chapter of Phi Alpha at Roberts was chartered on March 8, 2005.
Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social work students and invites into membership those who have attained academic excellence and exhibited commitment to service. Students who have met the following national criteria will receive an email invitation to apply for Phi Alpha membership.
- An eligible student must have completed at least 37.5% of credit hours in our MSW program.
- For regular standing MSW students, this means that you must have completed at least 23 credit hours of coursework in the MSW program.
- For advanced standing MSW students, this means that you must have completed at least 14 credit hours of coursework in the MSW program.
- An eligible student must also meet GPA requirements by being in the top 35% of students in the MSW program at Roberts.
We will run eligibility reports in late January/early February based on these criteria. Students who have met the above two criteria will receive an email invitation to apply for Phi Alpha membership in the Mu Omega Chapter. In order to qualify, students must further demonstrate the following:
- At least 4 hours of volunteer experience in the last 4 months from the time of application. The volunteer experiences must be carried out through formal organizations and must be connected to social work (e.g., humanitarian service, community service, philanthropy). Any for credit (e.g., internship) or for pay (e.g., work) experiences do not count as volunteer experiences.
- In addition, another requirement to be inducted into the Mu Omega Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society is the commitment to engage in at least 4 hours of social work-focused volunteer service per each semester until you graduate.
