Get Involved

Getting involved in activities outside the classroom is one of the most rewarding aspects of college life. If you have an interest, but do not see it listed below, feel free to contact the Office of Student Life about creating a new student organization on campus.

The organizations below are what's currently offered, but students have the opportunity to form new organizations if they find an interest.

Student Association Leadership Team Entities

  • *Beacon Newspaper- Produces a student newspaper to inform and enlighten students on campus activities and issues. 
  • *Class Councils- Represents class and plan activities for the class. Officers are elected positions. 
  • *Historian /Chesbronian- Preserve the history of student activities and the student association, coordinate the yearbook. 
  • *Intramurals- Provides intramural sports: ultimate Frisbee, flag football, basketball, handball, dodgeball, and volleyball. 
  • *Multi-Ethnic Affairs- provides advocacy and guidance for multi-ethnic groups on campus in an effort to effectively represent Roberts’ diverse community.
  • *Publicity- Promotes student activities on campus.
  • *Senate- Represents the student body’s concerns and promotes positive change on campus.
  • *Social Life- Plans and implements campus-wide social activities.

Academic and Pre-Professional

  • Math and Science Club- A place for math and science students to come together and discuss issues in math and science and to have fellowship outside of the classroom.
  • Medical Club- The purpose of this organization shall be to bring together students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field and aid them in the process towards their personal professional goals.
  • Music Therapy Club- To educate on and advocate for music therapy, and bring together music therapy students.
  • Nursing Club- A club for all nursing/ nursing intent students that seeks to foster a community with each other through various events and study nights promoting student collaboration and involvement.
  • Student Education Association (SEA)- To provide education majors opportunities to connect with one another and have a chance to serve the community. 
  • Psi Chi- We are an academic organization on campus for highly performing undergraduate and graduate psychology students to come together and help each other when it comes to studies and job progression in the field of psychology
  • Society of Physics Students (SPS)- Support Physics and Engineering Students with study concepts and getting connected to the Society of Physics Students.
  • Student Social Work Association (SSWA)- dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community that empowers aspiring social work students to thrive both academically and professionally.

Campus Ministry

  • Campus One80- empower student leaders who are committed to transforming their campuses with the Gospel, one life at a time.
  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)- FCA's purpose is to leverage the platform of sports to introduce student-athletes and coaches to Jesus Christ and nurture their spiritual growth, ultimately hoping that their influence will lead to a positive transformation on campus and in their communities
  • FREE- The purpose of FREE is to educate our campus community about and empower each other to act against the evil of human trafficking.
  • ROC Solid- As a club, we strive to meet students where they are at and provide Christian community and connection through sharing our testimonies and serving the community around us. 
  • The Longing- To create a charismatic and evangelical Christ-centered community where students can explore and deepen their faith through regular Bible study, prayer, worship, and fellowship.
  • Walk on the Water (The Catholic Club- to provide a community for and foster connections between Catholic students and faculty on campus. 

Music & Performing Arts

  • Brass Chamber Music- Performs an array of styles ranging from early Baroque to modern music. This ensemble rehearses weekly, performs a concert each semester, and typically consists of trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba.  
  • Chorale- Devoted to the study and performance of high-quality choral music from diverse styles, musical eras, languages, and cultures, this is Roberts' premier vocal ensemble. Rehearses four times per week, performs several times each semester, and takes biennial domestic tours and quadrennial international tours. Auditions are required.
  • Dance Team- To bring the joy and love for dance to the campus
  • Gospel Choir- Exposes the Roberts community to Gospel music while providing students and faculty with another style of worship. No audition required. 
  • Jazz Combo/Ensemble- Rehearses weekly and performs composed and improvised music derived from the American big band tradition, African American composers, contemporary classical music, and more. Auditions are required for Jazz Ensemble 
  • Men’s Chorus- Performs a capella, southern gospel, quartet styles of music. For men both majoring and not majoring in music. 
  • Opera Performance- Provides experience in the art of Opera with a production every year. Auditions are required. 
  • RWC Community Orchestra (RWCCO)- Provides a high quality orchestral musical experience. The Orchestra consists of approximately 60 RWC students and Rochester area musicians, and performs 2-4 concerts each semester. Auditions are required. 
  • String Chamber Music- Includes string players and performs a concert each year. Invite only.
  • Theatre Minor- Faculty-led aspects of theatrical productions including acting, production, backstage, set, and promotion.    
  • Wind Ensemble- Rehearses three times per week, performs 2-4 concerts each semester, and takes biennial domestic tours and quadrennial international tours. Auditions are required. 
  • Women's Choir- Includes women both majoring and not majoring in music. No audition is required. 
  • Woodwind Quintet- Includes flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and French horn. Performs a concert each year & is invite only.
  • Flute Choir- Rehearses once a week, audition only (restricted to advanced players)
  • Music Therapy Club- To educate on and advocate for music therapy, and bring together music therapy students!

Special Interest

While the perspectives of Special Interest organizations do not necessarily reflect those of Roberts Wesleyan University,
we support our students as they explore a variety of interests and issues.

  • African Student Union (ASU)- Recognize and celebrate the differences of African cultures present on campus and to create an opportunity for first generation and beyond students to come together in a safe space and share the love of culture, educate, encourage and raise awareness throughout the campus and community about African history. 
  • iCare- For the students in the B.E.L.L. program, cp Rochester, and Boces. Monthly meetings with activities during lunch like karaoke, drawing. We also have done field trips in the past and informational tables In the dining hall. 
  • Student Multicultural Advisory Club (SMAC)- To be a support and advocacy group for students (especially Bipoc students). Building barriers and Breaking bridges 
  • Students For Life- Provide an opportunity for students to get involved with the pro-life movement through outreach events, volunteer opportunities, and training to understand what it means to be a compassionate, loving pro-life advocate as a college student.
  • Global Club- Helps international students connect with Americans and provides a place to share cross-cultural experiences.
  • Lifting Club- Bring the students of the Robert's community together through exercise and other such physical activity.
  • The Hidden Opponent- To promote athlete mental health advocacy, education, and support
  • Tennis Club- To teach tennis fundamentals and basics to newer players, enhance the skills of moderate and skilled players, and build a team for scrimmages with other clubs. 
  • Chess Club- to provide competition with good sportsmanship in the game of chess. The major objectives shall be to (1) Exercise the mind by playing, learning and competing in the arts of chess, (2) promote good sportsmanship in every outcome of the game, and (3) to provide a place to play for beginners and experts alike.
