Why Pick Roberts Wesleyan?

Decision Day Nearing: Why You Should Consider Roberts Wesleyan University

You’ve probably seen your friends and family sharing their college decisions on social media lately. With Decision Day quickly approaching, expect more posts to fill your feed. It’s a big decision, and we know it’s not easy. Choosing a university involves many personal factors: academic programs, campus culture, internship and career opportunities, and things like campus size, location, diversity, and student support services.

If Roberts Wesleyan University is on your radar, here are a few reasons why it might be the right University for you, just like it has been for the students who pick Roberts Wesleyan each year.

A Strong Christian Foundation

At Roberts Wesleyan, we pride ourselves on our Christian values and our commitment to integrating faith into your academic journey. We believe that faith plays a vital role in shaping how we approach learning and life, well beyond our time at university.

You don’t have to be religious to attend, but we do encourage you to explore your spirituality and faith while you’re here. Faith looks different for each of our students, and we welcome and encourage that.

Academics For Character

We are a liberal arts college offering a wide variety of programs in areas like arts, humanities, business, nursing, health, education, social sciences, and more.

Our nursing program is especially well-known and highly regarded. In fact, we're one of the top universities in the Greater Rochester area for nursing degrees, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs. We help our graduates spring into positions at leading local hospitals and healthcare institutions in our community.

We’re also recognized for our education, criminal justice, and social work programs, and we’re always looking for ways to innovate and grow our academic offerings and community partnerships to meet the needs of our students.

A Student-Focused Campus

Roberts Wesleyan is a smaller university, which many of our students love for the close-knit community vibe. It means you’re not just a number here. You’ll know your professors by name, and they’ll know you.

Students study together

Because of the small campus environment, you’ll receive more personalized attention—whether it's for career counseling, networking, or job placement. Our campus feels friendly and welcoming, and our students appreciate the support and connection they get here, whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student with us.

NCAA II Athletics

Our athletic programs are growing yearly, and we’re proud of our achievements, led by our longtime Athletic Director Bob Segave. For example, we had one of our pole vaulters represent Roberts Wesleyan at the 2024 Paris Olympics just last year.

We are a proud NCAA Division II school, offering 19 sports for both men and women, including track & field, basketball, field hockey, swimming, volleyball, lacrosse, and more. Redhawks Athletics is committed to developing student-athletes academically, spiritually, and athletically while ensuring they have a well-rounded and competitive experience.

Also, Roberts Wesleyan was named the 2025 Division II Award of Excellence winner at the NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee a few weeks ago. The award recognizes the school's outstanding community engagement efforts through its Redhawks Reach Out initiative.

Beyond the Classroom

At Roberts Wesleyan, you won’t just learn in the classroom—you’ll grow in real-world experiences, too. We offer opportunities for students to participate in mission trips and study abroad programs, aligning with our broader Christian mission to serve others worldwide.

We also focus on helping students secure internships, co-ops, and post-graduation career opportunities.
