Professional Licensure Disclosure and Outcomes

Roberts Wesleyan University has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). The Professional Licensure Disclosure and Outcomes requirement pertains to federal regulations under 34 CFR §668.14 and §668.43, which govern institutional disclosures for students, particularly in programs leading to professional licensure or certification. These regulations are meant to ensure transparency for prospective and enrolled students regarding whether an educational program meets the licensure requirements in different U.S. states.

Per U.S. Federal Regulations and in compliance with the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) Manual version 24.2, Roberts Wesleyan University provides the following information for programs which may lead to professional licensure or certification.  Students may reference the NC-SARA’s Professional Licensure resources, including the Professional Licensure Directory and Frequently Asked Questions.

Given that licensure and certification are controlled by individual governmental bodies in all 50 US states and that every jurisdiction may impose its own unique requirements, we cannot guarantee that the specific training we provide will meet the criteria for licensure in any individual state other than New York. As such, Roberts Wesleyan University has made no determination that our licensure and certification programs meet requirements in any other state or territory. This disclosure does not guarantee that any particular state certification or licensure authority will approve or deny your application. Roberts Wesleyan University will make every reasonable effort to help you navigate this process. For information regarding licensure in another state, enrolled and prospective students are strongly encouraged to contact that State’s licensing body to review all certification and licensure requirements.

Roberts Wesleyan University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the IACBE (located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA).

Our accounting program is registered with the New York State Department of Education (NYSED). Combined with the Master's of Strategic Leadership curriculum in our 4+1 program, students will meet the educational requirement to potentially sit for the C.P.A. examination. Click here for more information about the C.P.A. track at Roberts.

Students seeking C.P.A. certification within another state should review the educational requirements of their respective state to ensure that the curriculum at Roberts meets the specific state educational requirements.

Teacher Education Programs

Roberts Wesleyan University's teacher education programs are accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Pursuant to §52.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, the educator preparation programs offered by Roberts Wesleyan University are considered to be continuously accredited to meet the New York State requirement that all such programs maintain continuous accreditation.

In preparation for the next accreditation cycle, the Department of Teacher Education regularly reviews and revises key assessments to measure students’ growth and determine program effectiveness in several areas. Teacher candidates will achieve Roberts Wesleyan University’s measures of excellence in educational settings through challenging academics, self-reflection, and rich clinical experiences.

More information on teacher certification in New York State can be found through the NYS Office of Teaching Initiatives (OTI) website. If you seek certification outside of New York State, you may be required to take state-specific tests or fulfill other requirements to achieve licensure. Social Work Programs

Our BSW and MSW programs are accredited by the Council for Social Work Education (CSWE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). CSWE and CHEA require all accredited schools of social work to post their student assessment data on their university's website. These reports are updated every other year and provide benchmarks for the achievement of the core competencies associated with our BSW and MSW programs. A degree from RWU's MSW program provides the educational requirement for both LMSW and LCSW licensure in New York State. More information on social work licensure in New York State can be found through the NYS Office of the Professions website. For further information regarding social work licensure in a different state, please contact that state's Department of Education.
